The weight
A cartridge razor is light, so you press.
That is where the irritation comes from — not from the blade, from the pressure you apply to make a light tool cut. Blade One weighs 160 grams. It shaves under its own weight. You guide it; you never push it.
The head holds the blade at 30°, with 0.1 to 0.2 mm of blade exposed and a 0.8 to 0.85 mm gap. Those three numbers are the whole design: enough edge to cut the hair, not enough to reach the skin.
The handle is knurled along its full length, because a smooth handle in a wet hand is a design failure. 316 stainless steel is the grade used for surgical instruments and marine fittings — chosen for one property above all others: it does not mind being wet.

In the box
Three things, and nothing you have to buy again for years.

The razor
316 stainless steel, 160 g, three pieces. It comes apart to clean and goes back together the same way every time.

Ten blades
One loaded, nine spare — five or six months of shaving. After that, any double-edge blade on earth fits.

The SteelDock stand
Included free. It holds the razor head-down so it drains and dries, which is the single thing that makes an edge last.
How to use it
Four things to unlearn from cartridge razors.
-
Soften first
Warm water for a full minute, or shave straight after a shower. Dry hair blunts blades and tugs skin.
-
Find the angle
Rest the head flat against your face, then tilt the handle back until the blade bites. That is 30°.
-
Do not press
Short strokes, no pressure at all. The weight is doing the work. Two light passes beat one hard one.
-
Dry it
Rinse, shake, and stand it head-down. A dry edge lasts several times longer than a wet one.

The arithmetic
One hundred blades.€0,39each.
Work out what your cartridges cost per shave and you have the whole argument. The razor was never the expensive part — the refills were, and they were designed to be. A double-edge blade is a commodity: anyone makes them, they all fit, and nobody owns the format. That is exactly why ours carry no brand name.
Ten at a time costs€1,00a blade. A hundred at a time costs€0,39. Same blade, same box — the only thing you are buying with the larger pack is not thinking about it again.
Questions
Is a safety razor harder to use?
For about three shaves, yes. The only real habit to break is pressing. Once you stop pushing and let the weight cut, it is easier than a cartridge — fewer passes, less drag, and nothing clogs.
Which blades fit it?
Every standard double-edge blade made, from any brand. The format has been unchanged since 1904 and nobody holds a patent on it. That is the entire point of owning one.
How often do I change the blade?
Change it when it starts to tug, not on a schedule. For most people that is every five to ten shaves — sooner with coarse hair, later if you dry the razor after each use.
Will it irritate my skin?
A single sharp edge passing once over the skin is gentler than four dull ones passing together. Most irritation from cartridges comes from pressure and from blades dragging after the lubricating strip has worn off. Go slowly for the first week and use no pressure.
Can I fly with it?
The razor yes, the blades no — loose blades are not allowed in cabin baggage anywhere. Pack the razor empty in your carry-on and put blades in checked luggage, or buy a pack at your destination. They are sold everywhere.
What if I do not get on with it?
Thirty days to send it back for a full refund, used or not. It is a change of habit, and that is a fair thing to try before committing to.
